Colorado Republican Lovefest

  • by: Red Hawk

Juxtaposed to this  the Colorado Republicans are hosting a Unity meeting November 4th.

Hosted by Ed McVaney, GOP Chair Bob Martinez and Committeeman Bob Schaffer, the retreat is intended to help the Republican Party come back together after the divisive fight over Referenda C and D.

Martinez has invited Gov. Bill Owens – a Republican architect of the referendums – all state and congressional lawmakers and the party’s two primary candidates for governor, former Owens cabinet member Marc Holtzman and U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez, to the closed meeting, he said.

But some Republicans who have urged a yes vote on C and D aren’t so sure they’ll be ready for a GOP lovefest so soon after the election that saw some of them called by another acronym: RINOS – Republicans in name only.

Sen. Norma Anderson, a 19-year statehouse veteran from Lakewood who supports C and D, said she is unlikely to forgive one Republican campaign opponent in particular – Holtzman.

“(He) went too far when he went for the jugular, saying that you can’t trust government, that we’re a bunch of pigs, so to speak,” she said.

But according to Holtzman: “Almost all of these people at one time or another have been friends of mine,” Holtzman said. “I’d like to think that in spite of our political differences, that we will remain friends.”

  1. Do you suppose, just maybe, Holtzman is beginning to realize that calling Coloradans who wanted better schools, roads and higher education “pigs” might not have been the best way of winning our support?  Obviously, his shills on this board haven’t.

  2. Or maybe Marc is realizing, gee, maybe I really put my ego in front of the party when I picked these nasty fights w/ Owens and Beauprez, and made everyone look bad in the process.  This guy takes the lowest of the low roads every time.  I can’t wait until we never have to see or hear from this carpetbagger again.

  3. Norma is a frikin’ alien. Why doesn’t she just join the dems?

And whining about being called pigs is a LIE, and makes you public-trough-addicted pork-lovers look petty and shrill. Therefore, please keep it up.

Martinez’ love-fest needs to be held AFTER the GOP gets its act together, runs (and wins) on the issues that the state party pansies want to avoid. Immigration, gun rightm, taxes (spelled Ref C), and other core issues must be brought up for votes, or the GOP base will stay home, and they should.

With a bunch of panty waists like Norma and the GOP chicken littles on Ref C running around clucking away, they deserve to remain in the minority.

In the end, for all that people may dislike about his style, MH is campaigning on Republican issues and acting halfway decent about it, unlike the small-minded posters on this site.

  4. Okay, Holtzman shill.  Remain your latest diatribe and tell me one more time why real Republicans should support fascists like you if you do hijack our party.

  5. Well, if Death-breath’s shriek emplifies Holtzman’s “half-way decent” style, I’d hate
to see what happens when he stoops to negative campaigning!

  6. Started on the hard stuff a little early, didn’t you, Death?

Simple-minded fools like you are why the Dems will continue to dominate the Leg and take the Gov’s chair, to my dismay.
